Kundadri

Shimoga is considered one of the best tourist places. Kundadri Hill is a beautiful home in the Shimoga district, situated in Theerthahalli Taluka. The structure is built on solid rock and ends in a Jain Temple.  Kundadri is 3200 feet above sea level, making it a cool place to visit at any time of the year.Situated amidst lush green forests, trekking up Kundadri evokes an ethereal experience and is a pilgrimage for Jains. Wouldn't one relish such pleasure under the heavens, partaking in adventure, trekking, and hiking on the hills christened after the Jain priest Kundakundacharya, who is said to have done rigorous penance here? Hills have been named after a Jain priest, Kundakundacharya, who is supposed to have undergone severe penance here. Hence, this Century Jain Temple gets extraordinarily crowded in January when the Makara Sankranthi festivities are happening. Such movements are inhibited in January for the specials in worship at this Century Jain Temple. Kundadri Hills, as a pilgrimage site, also had a tar road to the temple. However, the area is best explored while trekking in the surrounding jungles. Easy, beautiful riding aside, a beautiful part of a challenging trek on the innermost parts is easier and more beautiful. Several streams can be seen merrily flowing down as you take an amble along merrily to the top.
