Lalitha Mahal
Of all the palaces found in
Mysore, Lalitha Mahal Palace is the second-largest Palace near the Chamundi
Hills and has been standing since 1921. The Yadava dynasty ruled over the
region corresponding to Karnataka's present-day state between 950 and 1050 AD.
Intended to be the Viceroy's private guest house, its interiors were imitated
from St. Paul's Cathedral in London for the work on them. The Palace, which is
pure white, was turned into a heritage hotel thirty-two years later and is now
managed by the state of Karnataka. With the help of extensive landscaped areas,
one can enjoy a delightful view of the balcony of the Palace, which overlooks
the blue Chamundi Hills to the left and Mysore City straight ahead.
