Srirangapatna

Srirangapatna

Formed by the Cauvery River, Srirangapatna is a rocky island town that was once a fortified city that served as the capital during Tipu Sultan’s reign. The small town, located approximately 18 kilometers from the center of Mysore, is also an architectural masterpiece depicting the styles of Hoysala and Vijayanagara, so much so that the monuments here have been nominated as UNESCO World Heritage. The Ranganatha Swamy temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu, is a primary attraction in the town. Home to several stunning waterfalls, the entire town has a serene, spiritual vibe.
