St. Andrews Basilica Arthunkal
One of the most popular spots for tourists in Alleppey is undoubtedly this church, as it is one of the world's biggest temples of St Sebastian’s. This famous church dates back to the 16th Century but was later reconstructed in 1584 by the missionary Father Jacomo Fenicio, who believed to have healing powers through his touch. No doubt, its many renovations throughout the course of time have provided some changes, but the structure has remained able to withstand any such alterations. Most likely due to the ornately decorated structures and the placement of St Andrew’s Basilica near the beach, it is claimed to be the most sought-after religious building in Alleppey.
