Shiva Temple
Shiva Temple Situated at the heart of Ernakulam, this ancient Shiva temple is known as the Ernakulathappan Temple. One of the most renowned temples of Kerala, dedicated to its stern Shiva devotees. It is said to be one of the 7 royal temples of the Maharaja of Kochi, and it lies on the ground of the Durbar hall. The God, Lord Shiva, is found here in Gowrishankara form and faces west towards the Arabian Sea. Situated on 1 acre of sacred ground, the original lingam worshipped by Arjuna of the Mahabharat fame remains inside the temple complex. The grand annual festival is held during the Malayalam month of Makaram, along with other festivals and events.
