Kadalundi Bird Sanctuary
Kadalundi Bird Sanctuary is a famous tourist hub for birdwatchers and other nature lovers. It is located about 19 km from Kozhikode, and the bird sanctuary houses many native birds, close to 100 species, and more than 60 migratory birds. This belongs to the group of islets found in the Kadalundi River. This is the home for the Gulls, Terns, Herons, and a few more foreign birds; hence, the Gulls succeed to a great extent in luring these foreigners. However, besides the avian population, the sanctuary is visually breathtaking, complete with a river and the Indian Ocean and a host of other breathtaking views. This sanctuary also ties in with other aquatic life, such as fish, crabs, and mussels. The ideal time when the birds are at their best and can be viewed clearly in this sanctuary is early morning.
