Kottakkunnu In Malappuram
Kottakkunnu, one of the well-known Malappuram tourist places, is known for the remains of an ancient fort. The centuries-old structure, perched atop a cantonment hill, belonged to the Zamorins, the kings of Kozhikode. Within the fortress’s boundary lies the famous structure of Vettakkorumakan.Both are well-known architectural edifices. The temples are known to house paintings and artefacts from the Malabar region of Kerala. The fortress is also noted for being the exact spot in which British forces shot the revolutionary figure Variyan Kunnath Kunjahammed Haji in the year 1921.
