Pothundi Dam
The Pothundi Dam is the oldest in India and one of nature's engineering wonders. Most of the activities associated with this Pothundi dam occur along the foot of rivers Padipuzha and river Meenichiladipuzha; its central core wall is made up of quick lime and jaggery, and it serves as a reservoir that stretches over 30 square kilometres. Pothundi Dam, moreover, serves as the major irrigation source for rice cultivation in the surrounding regions. This structure dates back to the 18th century and offers, in every way, one of the best panoramas of the Western Ghats. Perhaps the most enchanting place amongst all the other Palakkad tourist places, the destination will leave you in amazement and fall in love with the stunning surroundings, tranquil climate, and perfect view of the hills and water.
