Punnathur Kotta In Thrissur
Towards the west of Guruvayoor Temple lies the Punnathur Kotta which is one of the most visited places in Thrissur. Punnathur Kotta is an elephant sanctuary with the highest number of captive elephants, turned palace of a local king. Here is where these beasts participate in training in order to be used in different festivals. Moreover, Punnathur Kotta also includes a facility for training Elephant Riders (Mahouts), and features a temple for Lord Shiva and another temple for Bhagavati.
Opening Hours: Every day, 9 am to 5 pm
Entry charge: INR 10 for one person and nong refundable INR 25 for taking in the camera.
