Poovar is a little rural town arranged 27 km from Thiruvananthapuram with untainted, neglected brilliant sand sea shores and wonderful backwaters of Kerala.

Otherwise called a fishing town, the serene Poovar island lies between the Arabian Sea and the Neyyar River. Recruiting a boat, (particularly during the sunset)that will take you through the mangrove woodland of backwaters is a must-do movement. The boat ride costs around INR 3000-INR 4000. The town has a portion of the wonderful retreats and inns that are known for the friendliness they offer.

Poovar ocean side is detached and is just open by a boat. Swimming is permitted here all through the year with the exception of the rainstorm months
