Soochipara Waterfall
- The exquisite Soochipara Waterfall is situated in a three-tiered waterfall in Vellarimala of Wayanad district. It is heavily covered by green forest and is also called Sentinel Rock Waterfall. One of the best places to visit is Wayanad, a stunning waterfall approximately twenty minutes from Meppadi. Soochipara Waterfall aka Soochimalai in Tamil, is a surface compound word of soochi ‘needle’ and para ‘rock.’ This is because, as one can see, there is a needle-type rock here. It is about a 2 km walk to the waterfall, and beyond this point, vehicle movement is not allowed
- The dilute here goes as high as 100 – 200 ft, which enhances this cascade for trekkers and even encourages some customers to try rock climbing, as these activities are offered to customers. There’s a natural swimming hole at the base of the Soochipara waterfall, and swimming and bathing are allowed in this area.
