Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary
Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary sits thousands of feet above sea level on the Western Ghats of Kerala, India, and enjoys various fauna and flora. In 1973, it was established and today covers an area of 345 km² lying within Nilgiri biosphere reserve. It has various fauna out if which there are elephants, tigers, leopards, bears, multicude of birds and reptiles. This sanctuary has a large cover of forests, grasslands, and even streams, making it attractive to nature and wildlife lovers. Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary can also be enjoyed thrillingly since various jeep safaris and trekking trails are available, giving views of wild animals in their habitats. It is also essential for such activities as protecting threatened animals and the health of this part of the world’s ecology. Further within this ecoregion is a facility to promote conservation and sustainability of natural resources, tourism, and environmental education.
