Toda Huts

The Toda tribe is one of the indigenous tribes of Ooty, and these huts are their homes. These huts are shaped in the form of semi-barrels, and they do not have any windows. You will be surprised to see these structures due to their unique appearance.The doors to these huts are so low that one has to stoop or bend down to enter these huts. But, once you enter, there is enough space for you to stand. This tribe survives on cattle herding and farming at large. These Toda Hamlets, as they are also called, can be found at a distance of 5.6 km from the mainland of Ooty and prove that this community still exists.
