Poombarai
After visiting all the
tourist places in Kodaikanal, you should drive down a sloping road in the
Palani hills, some 18 km away, and you will reach Poombarai. It is a small
village with a very low population of around 6000 people. It is famous for its
pungent garlic cultivation. The focal point of the village is a temple known as
the Kuzhanthai Velappar Temple, which is around 3000 years old.Once you are
done with this, you must travel 21 km to reach Berijam Lake, which is the
ultimate untouched paradise. You have to get permission from the Forest
Department to access the lake. If you manage that, you will be presented with a
nature walk where you can see Grasslands and Sholas, a museum, and a medicinal
garden.
